  • Dutch Biocontrols Firm Koppert Acquires Brazilian Ag Tech Pioneer

Dutch biocontrols firm Koppert Biological Systems has acquired Sao Paolo-based drone company Geocom in order to use their drones in the application of sustainable biocontrols in Brazil.

According to a statement released by the company, Koppert said its acquisition of Geocom will help it reach its goal to "accelerate precision agrifarming, which is crucial for bringing biologicals to the fields.”

Geocom specializes in agricultural technology and is a pioneer in image geoprocessing. They are the first company to develop an exclusive technology for the application of biological agents via drones in Brazil.

"We aim to offer the best to our customers and partners. In addition to biological solutions, we will also offer monitoring and application technologies," the Commercial Director of Koppert Brazil, Gustavo Herrmann, points out. "We recognized the need to complement the quality and efficiency of our products with a more specialized application to guarantee the maximum performance of bioprotection in the field," adds the Industrial Director of Koppert Brazil, Danilo Pedrazzoli.

Koppert Biological Systems reps said the acquisition was driven by a rapidly changing global agricultural environment. "We are committed to continuous investment in R&D and new technologies to ensure the highest level of quality and service for our customers. We took this step to bring precision agriculture technologies into the field of biological crop control to benefit the future of agriculture worldwide," says Agri Division Director, Martin Koppert.
